About INTL Hub

We are a faith-based community on campus, a group of students that runs events on campus to support the combined social, mental, physical and spiritual well-being of students.

Our events are inspired by the four cornerstones of Māori health and well-being – Te Whare Tapa Whā.

Through our social events, we fight against loneliness, depression and anxiety among the student body, especially among international students. We aim to be a home away from home, a place where students can know and be known, help and be helped, encourage and be encouraged.

We are a faith-based student community that runs social events, we do not impose our beliefs on anyone and everyone is welcome to our events no matter what their faith background is. Our goal is to run community-based events that foster the social, mental, and spiritual well-being of our members, and to become an overseas whānau (family) for students across New Zealand. Our History

In 2010, INTL HUB started as an English conversation class organised by several volunteers from Equippers Church in Auckland. We used to meet every Monday evening at the Mercury Theatre.

From 2012 onwards, we then progressed to work with private training establishments. We were delivering events/programs on campus for students.

In 2018, we decided to hire a venue and run events inspired by the four cornerstones of Māori health and well-being – Te Whare Tapa Whā: Taha tinana (Physical Health),  Taha wairua (Spiritual health), Taha whānau (Family health), and Taha hinengaro (Mental Health) and open up these events to students from all schools and universities.

In 2019, a significant year for our community, we began running events every week and a large number of university students started joining.

In 2020, we officially launched at AUT as a club, and we began running all our events on AUT Campus.

Pandemic: Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, INTL HUB kept on running weekly events online and contacting/connecting with over 600 students weekly to check their mental health and well-being. As soon as we got out of lockdown INTL HUB resumed its on-person activities.

In 2021, we launched activations at student accommodations and hostels around Auckland and we continue to expand this initiative.

In 2021, INTL HUB won the Faith & Spirituality Club of the Year award at AUT.

From 2022 - INTL HUB launches at the University of Auckland and hosts events in both universities (AUT & UoA) as most of our members are from AUT & University Of Auckland. Join our community and make history with us.

In 2022, INTL HUB won the overall Club of the Year Award at AUT.

In 2023, INTL HUB won the Faith & Spirituality Club of the Year Award at the University of Auckland.
